Best 7 Inch Tablet Review Amazon Fire 7 Image Source: AmazonHeres a great find if youre looking for one of the best 7 inch tablet computers. Youre not going to find a much better introduction to the tablet market than the Amazon Fire 7 Tablet. This is an almost ridiculously reasonably priced, high-performamce tablet, with its impressive GHz quad-core processor and an impressive seven hours of battery life. That sort of power is more than enough to support the demands of the average tablet user. In addition, the Fire 7 is available in a range of colours to suit almost any taste, including blue, tangerine and magenta.Number of Amazon Customer Reviews: 37,924 Average Rating: 3.9 out of 5 stars Check Price DesignThis is typical for Amazon, as youll see from our overview of the Fire 10 in our best 10 inch tablet review. Its a compact tablet within a matte plastic case with sizeable bezels. It measures 7.6in x 4.5in x 0.4in and weights 10.4oz, fitting snugly into the palm for one-hand usage, just a little bit heavier than the Kindle Paperwhite, and so comfortable for reading and browsing.Everything is well laid out and accessible, with the volume and power buttons and headphone jack at the top edge, as well as the mic roUSB port for charging and syncing. Theres a cover on the microSD card slot at the size of the unit, and there is one mono speaker on the rear of the device.Display SpeakersThe 7in 1024600 LCD screen, with its 171ppi resolution, is an attractive, crisp display for reading text or viewing video files. However, its not perfect for every purpose. Some pages can look a little cramped on the 7in display. However, the display is effective enough on its own to warrant inclusion in any review of the best 7 inch tablet devices. There is only a single small speaker that, if you care anything about audio at all, youll need to bolster with a portable Bluetooth speaker, or else invest in a decent pair of headphones, as the sound is pretty woeful.Other FeaturesThis tablet is a great introduction to Amazons virtual assistant, Alexa, and if you have an Echo already, youll be able to tell Alexa to send any search results you ask for, directly to your Fire 7.PerformanceAgain, as weve seen on AGENT p reviously, the worst thing about Fire tablets is that theyre restricted to apps from the Amazon store, which is a bit annoying if you want to use the more common Google and other apps like YouTube on your tablet. However, while the OS is based on Android, the user interface is very much based on the Amazon browsing and shopping experience. That in and of itself is a great feature say for a child or for anyone else coming to tablet computing for the first time. On the downside, nearly every page you bring up will try to sell you something, so if this is for a child, make sure you have your settings tailored to prevent too-easy one-click shopping!Fires OS 5.4 is based on Android 5.1, running on a 1.3GHz Mediatek processor, but theres only 1GB of RAM which causes noticeable lags and drags in switching between apps. And while the tablet has dual-band Wi-Fi, wireless speeds were pretty slow. Even 1.5GB would have solved this problem, we feel.Battery LifeThe battery life of the Fire 7 is okay. With a web video streaming in the browser and the brightness whacked up to the max, we got over four-and-a-half hours, which is not bad. And it will probably be more substantial if you use apps only as its the browser that tends to drain a lot of the Fire 7s power reserves.Best 7 Inch Tablet Review Amazon Fire 7 SummaryThis is a very smart little tablet. Its no-nonsense, and any weaknesses it has stem from an operating system that is out-running its available RAM, or from hardware (the speaker, for example) thats just not up to the task of what you expect from it.Amazon Fire 7 - Our VerdictWe really like the Amazon Fire 7. It's not perfect by any means, but for an introduction to tablet computing, it's very much in the 'everything you need' ballpark. It's let down only by slightly sluggish performance and bad sound.Amazon Fire 7 - ProsAmazon Fire 7 - ConsThe price is unbeatable and you've got access to a huge content library via the Amazon App store (albeit you'll have to fo rego favourites like Google and YouTube).Sluggish performance, poor sound reproduction, and cameras are only so-so.2. Best 7 Inch Tablet Review Amazon Fire 7 Kids Edition Image Source: AmazonAnother of the best 7 inch tablet options, the Fire 7 Kids Edition comes with a worry free 2 year guarantee so if your child happens to break it you can return it and get a brand new one in return with no second guessing. It is designed with resilience in mind, it comes with a heavy duty protective case to protect the tablet from any drops or bumps. You can filter what apps and websites your child has access to and make sure that only age appropriate content is obtainable. Some critics feel that the Amazon Fire HD 8 Kids Edition is a better choice, but we say this is still a good tablet thats worthy of serious consideration for younger members of the household.Number of Amazon Customer Reviews: 9,734 Average Rating: 4.2 out of 5 stars Check Price DesignThis is essentially the same as the Amazo n Fire 7, with the more expensive asking price including a padded case, a two-year warranty, and a 12-month subscription to the Netflix-Like kids books games portal, FreetimeUnlimited. However, its not all about the extras. Amazon has also made subtle improvements to the screen size and resolution, sound quality, storage and RAM.You get 16GB of SSD storage, and there is also microSD card slot that can take cards up to a whopping 256GB.Display SpeakersThe higher resolution display is perfectly able to handle anything your children will screen on it, but like the Fire 7, the speaker on the kids edition is pretty poor, a bit of an improvement but really nothing to get excited about.Other FeaturesIn FreeTime Unlimited, even without the subscription, there is a comprehensive suite of parental controls (behind a PIN access) that, among their many features, includes the ability to set usage time limits. This can be drilled down into further, by setting specific time limits for certain ca tegories, or you can set down educational goals, which will require your child to complete a specified amount of ebook reading before access to games and entertainment apps is allowed. This auto-timer function which is governed and delivered by the tablet is likely to be a real parental assistance, as kids tend to respond better to deadlines that are external rather than set by parents. The other really noticeable feature of the Kids Edition is the padded case. The first time your child drops the tabletâ"and its inevitable; just prepare for itâ"youll see the value of the case straight away. Its thick and spongy, and likely to prevent any breakages and absorb any shocks of falls from even the highest height.PerformanceThe Fire 7 Kids Edition has a 1.3GHz processor but, like its standard Fire 7 forbear, is somewhat hampered by 1GB of RAM. It wont struggle quite so much as the adult version does, however, higher powered graphics-heavy games will definitely put it to the test.Battery L ifeThis is pretty similar to the battery life of the Fire 7. With a video streaming in the browser and the brightness at maximum, our battery lasted for just over four-and-a-half hours. As stated, this battery life will be more substantial if apps rather than the browser is used, which tends to be the case when kids are using tablets, so it should be sufficient to keep junior happy.Best 7 Inch Tablet Review Amazon Fire 7 Kids Edition SummaryOverall the Fire 7 Kids Edition good, but you may wish to go up a grade to the slightly larger Fire HD 8 Kids Edition, for significantly improved display and sound, as well as a more slick performance in general.Amazon Fire 7 Kids Edition - Our VerdictAll in all, this is a very good tablet, but if we have one over-riding concern it may be that it will not be sufficiently powerful to keep the average child entertained for long before an upgrade to a more powerful machine is necessary.Amazon Fire 7 Kids Edition - ProsAmazon Fire 7 Kids Edition - ConsThe reasonable cost that includes very useful extras over the standard Fire 7 tablet, including software hardware tweaks, as well as parental controls, warranty cover, expandable storage and a child-friendly rubber protective case. The only real weakness is the same sluggishness in performance that blights the standard edition, as well as the app store limitations that all Amazon tablets experience.3. Best 7 Inch Tablet Review Dragon Touch Y88X Plus Image source: AmazonA budget Android tablet, this is still one of the best 7 inch tablet devices you could hope to find if you are looking for a basic model. The Dragon Touch Y88X Plus 7in tablet is a compact device that allows fuss-free usage of apps and web browsing, and a much better than average quality display for viewing video.Number of Amazon Customer Reviews: 1,112 Average Rating: 3.4/5 stars Check Price DesignDesign wise, there is nothing really remarkable about the Dragon Touch Y88X, but what we do like is its great com bination of reassuring solidity with a lightweight feel that says very portable and handy rather than flimsy build. The tablet weight just 0.61lbs, so it is definitely not going to tax you when youre transporting it from place to place.Display SpeakersThis 1024 x 600 pixels IPS display is perfectly fine for a machine in its budget range. Its not the best we have seen but it is not the worst. Its SmartColor gives a nice dynamic range to the display. The audio quality, however, is pretty poor. Its very quiet and definitely not up to the standard of the visuals that can be displayed on the screen. Factor in the purchase of a Bluetooth speaker or decent pair of headphones because you will definitely need them.Other FeaturesOther features to be intrigued about apart from its bright display and general fluid performance are its microSD slot for expanding storage, its Bluetooth connectivity and its more than decent battery life. There are also front and rear facing cameras, but these are q uite poor. The rear camera is just 2mp while the front camera at 0.3mp will not even do conference call video capability all that well.PerformanceThe operating system of this tablet is Android 4.4 KitKat, and it is very well served for connectivity, with Wi-Fi (802.11b/g/n), Bluetooth and micro USB. Its storage is a little bit limited, though, at just 8GB, although there is a microSD card slot where it will be possible to boost this memory to something a little bit more substantial. As it stands, dont expect this to be a slick platform for mutli-tasking between apps and browser tabs. Its not great. But if you keep things sensible, to one or two tasks at a time, it is perfectly adequate, and does the job fluidly and without any fuss or hindrance.Battery LifeBattery life of the Dragon Touch Y88X Plus is pretty respectable at this price range, however, at just 5 hours, this is not going to suit heavy users of tablets. Youll need access to a power point, or else to carry a power pack wi th you at all times if you want to be sure of not running out of battery at crucial points in, for example, a video or film that youre viewing.Best 7 Inch Tablet Review Dragon Touch Y88X Plus SummaryThe Dragon Touch Y88X Plus is a neat little tablet that does its job. Its one of the best-selling tablets, and its not difficult to see why. However, if you want a tablet for anything more than the most basic computing tasks, youd be well advised to bump up your outlay and consider investing in something a little more medium to high end, because the Dragon Touch Y88X Plus is quite limited for all but the most basic users.Dragon Touch Y88X Plus - Our VerdictThis is nothing special in performance or design terms, although we have to take the Dragon Touch Y88X Plus seriously because of the quality of its display, which really does make video viewing a pleasure. There's nothing much more about it that is special, however. But overall, this is a good tablet for the beginner.Dragon Touch Y88 X Plus - ProsDragon Touch Y88X Plus - ConsSolid build, lightweight portability, and display quality are all great. It just lacks the processing power to truly impress, and battery power is a little weak.4. Best 7 Inch Tablet Review LeapFrog Epic 7 Image Source: AmazonThe LeapFrog Epic 7 is another of the best 7 inch tablet options available if youre looking for a sound device for your children. This is a good investment, coming with oodles of content that is specially geared towards the 3-9 age bracket. LeapFrog has long been considered the number 1 tablet for kids and the Epic lives up to its name. For added fun, the JustForMe feature personalises a curriculum for your child to encourage them to continuously learn, every day. However, lets see how it fares when we start to drill down into the specifics.Number of Amazon Customer Reviews: 165 Average Rating: 3.6 out of 5 stars Check Price DesignThis promises an epic learning experience for children between the ages of 3 and 9 yea rs old, and to be honest, we were a little underwhelmed by the design and build. However, we accept that epic is going to have wildly different interpretations as between the average adult and the average child, so lets not be no dismissive. This is a very tactile green rubber case, and it has a bumper quality that may appeal to parents looking to maximise lifespan of this technology in the same way that the foam rubber bumper case of the Fire 7 Kids Edition does.Held in landscape mode, which is the mode its most likely to be in when used by a child, the power and volume buttons are on the top edge, as well as a headphone jack and micro USB port for charging. One interesting thing is that the microSD slot is covered by the case, so youll have to remove it if you want to expand storage with an SD card. Before you start raging about the inconvenience, think about how appealing an SD card would be for a toddler to attempt to eat, and you begin to see the wisdom of Leapfrogs decision! The res an interesting tug of war going on here between weight and dimensions. The LeapFrog Epic weighs just over 20oz, heavier than most tablets and certainly heftier than the Fire 7 kids edition. However, at just marginally over 1in thick, it is not much thicker than the Fire device, and measuring 9in x 6.38in, it will certainly be easy to carry from place to place in a schoolbag, for example. The interface is probably the most extensive and thoughtful of any of the kids tablets we have reviewed, offering Epics interactive virtual world, which your child can engage with by selecting animation styles and which can also respond in real-time to, for example, the weather conditions in your part of the world if you let the app know what your location is. We really liked this user interface, because it was a properly imaginative response to a need for a childs eye view table interface.Display SpeakersThe display on the Leapfrog Epic is a little so-so to this adults eyes, but the tablets 102 4p x 600p display is perfectly fine for younger eyes, with solid colours and decent detail. It falls down on live action, however, for which it offers little in the way of clarity. However, will your child be likely to overlook this? Probably. Just be aware that there are better displays, even on kids tablets. In truth, the sound is definitely on the average side if you are listening to music, but for less cluttered tones and music on the apps, its a bit better. Still, on balance, its just not that great.Other FeaturesThere is a stylus (cloth-tipped) that comes with the Leapfrog Epic 7, and which has a storage slot on the left side of the tablet, as well as a tether cord to the bottom edge of the device. In addition there are two cameras, both 1.9-megapixel resolution. The front camera sits unobtrusively in the centre of the tablets top bezel, while the rear camera is situated on the back of the device. The parental controls, which can be accessed on the tablets preloaded apps. These p resets, which can cover up to three childs accounts, can be hidden behind four-digit password lock. The controls are quite tight and can can control which apps each child can access, and youll be able to limit access to the App Center store, and to view your childs wish lists. Parents can also enable and disable peer-to-peer functionality, and time controls can be established, within a maximum usage limit of four hours per day.For web surfing, kids can access only the LeapSearch app that offers only parentally approved bookmarked sites, which is a great feature if you want to absolutely minimise the chances of your children coming across inappropriate web content.PerformanceWith its 1.3GHz MediaTek processor, 1GB of RAM and a 16GB SSD, this is pretty slow, especially when youre accessing parental controls via the browser. Loading times for the apps are on average slower than other child-friendly apps, and truthfully, theyre likely to really test the patience of all but the youngest of children.Battery LifeBattery life is quite good, with about 7 and a half hours of maximum running time. While this is not as much as the battery in an average grown-ups tablet, its actually an improvement on something like the Fire Kids editions.Best 7 Inch Tablet Review LeapFrog Epic 7 SummaryWe are torn here, between the beautiful and unique user interface for the Leapfrog Epic 7, which probably has more educational value than the Amazon Fire Kids editions; and the sheer number of apps available for the Fire. Overall, this is a great idea for a kids tablet, but all but the youngest kids might find it a little bit on the slow and sluggish side.LeapFrog Epic 7 - Our VerdictIf there could have been more poke in the engine of this tablet, the LeapFrog Epic 7 could have been one of the best 7in tablets on the market. As it is, it's part of the way there, but it's rather compromised by the sluggishness of its performance. Definitely worth considering for a youngster, overall.LeapFr og Epic 7 - ProsLeapFrog Epic 7 - ConsTactile, solid and fun build, with a beautiful and educational user interface that is pitched perfectly at young minds, while the parental controls are extremely tight and customisable.Performance and audio are quite weak, though not fatally so.5. Best 7 Inch Tablet Review Samsung Galaxy Tab E Lite 7 Image Source: AmazonSamsung has always been to the fore of the tablet market and the Galaxy Tab E Lite 7 is a great performer, providing hours of entertainment with a nine-hour battery life. You can work and read on the go with equal ease, and its versatility and pretty sleek performance all-round makes this another for the best 7 inch tablet options.Number of Amazon Customer Reviews: 1,185 Average Rating: 4 out of 5 stars Check Price DesignWe have mixed feelings about the length of the rectangular screen, which seems to lend itself better to video (in landscape mode) than to still images. However, it is difficult to quibble with a design that is just 0.42in thick and weighs only 0.68lbs. Measuring 7.6in x 4.6in this is something that could be carried with ease in a bag or maybe even a large inner pocket in a coat. There is plenty of scope for expansion and connectivity with a microSD slot and a couple of interfaces in the form of a micro USB as well as a headphone jack. While there is 8GB of memory, this can be expanded by the microSD slot to a maximum of 32GB which is more than enough for the needs of the average tablet user.Display SpeakersFor a 7in screen, a 1024p x 600p resolution, and a pixel density of 170ppi, is very good. There is only one mono speaker on the back of the tablet, however, and its sound is particularly tinny and prone to distortion. If you buy this tablet and care about sound quality you are going to have to augment your purchase with a suitable set of headphones or a portable Bluetooth speaker.Other FeaturesThere is but one rear camera with this tablet, with a video resolution of 640 x 480 pixels, a nd a megapixel count of just 2MP. While the lack of a front camera is disappointing, its doubly galling to report that the rear camera is next to useless for anything except natural light, and indoors.PerformanceThis is a little bit on the weak side, and there is nothing here to give you a really solid return on investment save for the Samsung brand. The table itself is decidedly so-so, and definitely nothing special on the performance side of things.Surprisingly, one area where the tablet did fare well was in the area of gaming. Most games we tried on the tablet ran smoothly without too much in the way of loading delays.Battery LifeBattery life of the Samsung Galaxy Tab E Lite 7 is very respectable. For video playback, the maximum run time will be around 8 hours, while youll get up to 9 hours if your usage is limited to web-browsing using Wi-Fi. However, if you want this tablet for listening to audio and nothing but, you will get a whopping 71 hours of battery life.Best 7 Inch Tabl et Review Samsung Galaxy Tab E Lite 7 SummaryThis was a little bit disappointing for a device in the Samsung Galaxy range, but to be fair, it is a few years old now and has been superseded in power and functionality by subsequent generations of tablet computing. However, we cannot entire rule it out as best 7 inch tablet recommendation. Provided you keep things basic and uncomplicated in terms of the task load, you should have a fairly functional little tablet here in the Samsung Galaxy Tab E Lite 7. It would probably be best suited to a young person maybe upgrading from a childs edition, or to someone getting into tablet computing for the very first time.Samsung Galaxy Tab E Lite 7 - Our VerdictOverall, this is a bit disappointing for a table that is available from Samsung, but it has a nice sleek, compact, lightweight design and is more than capable for standard everyday tablet computing demands.Samsung Galaxy Tab E Lite 7 - ProsSamsung Galaxy Tab E Lite 7 - ConsThe design and b uild quality is good, and the display is of a more than satisfactory resolution for a tablet of this size.Performance is the big letdown here. There is really nothing outstanding to report at all.6. Best 7 Inch Tablet Review Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Image Source: AmazonThis tablet is the perfect take-along device, no matter where you are going. Its long-lasting battery life and sleek yet non-slip design means that you donât have to worry about the battery dying or damaging it. The device has a dual camera so you wont miss any special moments in your daily life. Samsung is a reliable brand and this is a best 7in tablet option that does nothing to disappoint the brand reputation.Number of Amazon Customer Reviews: 888 Average Rating: 4 out of 5 stars Check Price DesignThe economic, smooth-edge design of the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 is one of the chief things to recommend about this tablet. Its just gorgeous, and easy and comfortable to hold and carry. With a completely glass front, i t has a non-slip finish on the sides and back, and the dimensionsâ"7.4in x 4.3in x 0.34in â" make it incredibly handy, while the weight of 10oz is also attractive. This has a reasonably robust build quality, although it would probably be prudent, given the all-glass front, to consider buying some form of protecting casing for the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7. If this hit a hard surface after a fall from any height, we would imagine it would be game over for the screen. There is 1.5GB of RAM which is not great, although its an improvement over some of the tablets in this class, as well as 8GB of internal memory, giving the user just 4.35GB of storage. However, there is a slot for microSD cards up to a maximum of a staggering 200GB. Other ports in the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 include a 3.5mm audio jack and a micro USB port.Display SpeakersThis has a bright display that makes it perfect for a multiplicity of standard tablet computing tasks, whether that be web-surfing, reading e-books, gaming o r streaming and viewing video. The speaker in the Galaxy Tab A7, which is situated in the back of the device, does a good job with voice and with music, with a good, clear, distortion-free response across all frequencies.Other FeaturesThere are two cameras here, not high-end impressive, but not bad either, and they produce perfectly fine still images, but the video quality leaves a lot to be desired.PerformanceRunning on Android 5.1.1, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 is more than capable of the sleek responsiveness that you would expect as a minimum when looking at photographs or navigating through the various apps on the device. Storage capacity is also tight out of the box, but as we have discussed there are ways around that particular problem, thanks to the microSD options. When you move beyond the basic into more specialised territory, you soon encounter the limitations of this device. It can become quite sluggish.Battery LifeWe found the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 to be capable of a run-ti me in excess of 10 hours, and even under a demanding load will provide more than 6 hours of run-time. Samsung has also installed a Smart Manager function that will save energy when battery life is low, pausing apps in the background, disabling unused Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and other actions to preserve the run-time for as long as possible. The charging time is a bit on the lengthy side, however.Best 7 Inch Tablet Review Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 SummaryOverall, we liked the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7, from its basic yet attractive design, to its ease of use. Again, like a lot of the tablets in the 7in category, there is a sense that these are unable to punch the desired weight.Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 - Our VerdictA decently built and designed tablet that is very easy to use and to take and use anywhere.Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 - ProsSamsung Galaxy Tab A7 - ConsDesign and build quality, screen responsiveness and display quality, very good battery life.Limited internal storage and sluggish performan ce are the main problems here.7. Best 7 Inch Tablet Review RCA Voyager 7in Image Source: AmazonThe RCA Voyager is a Google certified tablet so you can enjoy the Google PlayStore and all it has to offer. With a 1.2GHz quad-core processor this tablet delivers a perfectly functioning performance every time. This tablet is ideal to use at home or on the go.Number of Amazon Customer Reviews: 79 Average Rating: 3.5/5 stars Check Price DesignThis is a solid small, affordable Android tablet that stands out from the crowd by virtue of its display and very good quality speakers. This will fit comfortably into a pocket with its 7.25in x 4.45in x 0.35in dimensions. However, if you are going to be carrying this around we would recommend a quality protective case, as it may be a little bit fragile when it comes to serious to-ing and fro-ing. What we like about this is actually its least remarkable featureâ"its no frills appearance. It will not stick out like a sore thumb in any circumstances, but wont exactly set the world alight with excitement either. Still, its solid and dependable, which is what you want from a budget device.Built-in storage is 16GB, but there is a microSD card so this can be expanded up to 128GB of additional capacity, and the Android OS will be able to make this extra storage function like it is integral to the device. There is also a standard audio jack in the device to enable you use headphones if required. One of the best things about this device is that there is a DC 5V port so youll be able to charge the table without taking up the microUSB port, which youll be able to keep instead for syncing. This can also access the contents of flash drives, and if you can get a micro USB to USB-A adapter, youll be able to plug in keyboards and mice to the device, a really nice touch.Display SpeakersThe absolute high point of the RCA Voyager 7in tablet is its display, with a resolution of 1024p x 600p and a pixel density of 169ppi. The images are crisp and the text is smooth, with no jagged edges. This can also be used out of doors, but its very reflective so youll have to keep it out of direct sunlight. There is only a single speaker in the table, but its very good quality for a device in this price range. And it will go up to 100% with no real discernible distortion either, so its definitely a winner for a budget tablet.Other FeaturesThere are front- and rear-facing cameras in the Voyager bit they have the same low resolution of just 2 megapixels. Pictures taken on both are adequate, but the colors are a little bit washed out, even in good light, and there is no flash to enable you use the cameras in low light conditions. Overall, these are pretty decent for a tablet of this price.PerformanceThe RCA Voyager has just an Intel 1.3GHz quad-core processor and only 1GB or RAM. So, while it is very much up to the standard tasks of social media, e-book reading, emailing and low-intensity gameplay, more demanding tasks and multi-tasking wil l put it under pressure.Battery LifeYoull be doing well to get anything more out of the RCA Voyager 7 than around six hours on one full charge. And when you use it for video streaming, it will be little more than two-thirds of that capacity. One of the good things about this tablet is that it has a dedicated DC 5V port for charging, and with this, a full charge of the battery takes approximately two hours.Best 7 Inch Tablet Review RCA Voyager 7in SummaryWhile this is not a bad tablet, that, unfortunately, is about the best that can be said for it. Its display and high quality speakers are what gives the RCA Voyager 7 an edge, and its portability makes it a very nifty player in the 7in tablet market. But beyond that, its low storage, average quality cameras and under-par battery life mean that its a starter tablet at best (and in fairness, those who just need a tablet for very casual and non-complex work will probably have it for a long time).RCA Voyager 7in - Our VerdictThe RCA Vo yager 7in has a display and audio quality that the rest of the package simply doesn't live up to. Taken as a tablet for beginners, it is actually fine, but for more complex tasks, you'd be better off looking elsewhere.RCA Voyager 7in - ProsRCA Voyager 7in - ConsThe display and speakers are excellent for a tablet this size, and we also liked the DC 5V port, which frees up the microUSB port for syncing and other tasks. It's not powerful enough for anything other than standard use. Its battery life is mediocre and the image quality from the cameras is pretty average.8. Best 7 Inch Tablet Review Fire 7 Tablet BlackImage Source: AmazonIf you are looking for a tablet that has the features of a more expensive tablet but at a fraction of the cost then call off the search! Chromo Inc comes pre-loaded with apps like Netflix, Chrome, and Skype for hours of entertainment. There are so many features packed into this small, pocket tablet, including some really slick facilities such as pinch-to-z oom technology, speech recording, and dual cameras.Number of Amazon Customer Reviews: 1,766 Average Rating: 3 out of 5 stars Check Price DesignThis is one of the older 7in tablets on this list, but it remains pretty popular if youre looking for a tablet that delivers slick functionality and the ability to meet standard everyday computing requirements. The design is as functional as the machine itselfâ"very no frills and no bells and whistles; nothing, in short, that would scare a beginner away if they were interested in trying out a tablet for the very first time.Display SpeakersThe display of the Chromo Inc 7in tablet is perfectly fine, with decent color reproduction and a clarity that we really cant quibble with. We were not crazy about the sound level however and would suggest that if you want to get this tablet, you will need to bolster the sound output using a decent pair of earbuds or headphones, or a portable speaker of some kind.Other FeaturesDespite the size and age of th is tablet, it is actually quite packed with features. It has a front facing camera, enabling you to use it for everything from selfies to Skype video call sessions. Although this camera is just 1.3mp, with pictures the quality you would expect for a camera of that resolution, the back camera is 8mp, which is pretty incredible for a device of this size.We also liked the fact that there is a full size USB port, which many of the other best 7 inch tablet devices of 2020 simply lack, and which is a great facility.PerformanceThe Chromo Inc 7in will never be a power player in the tablet market, running on Android 4.4 and with just 512MB of RAM. However, the tablets internal memory (again, lower than an expert would want at 4GB) can be expanded up to 32GB using a microSD card.Battery LifeBattery life is where the Chromo Inc 7in tablet really shows its age. On a full charge, it will give you just four hours of playing time maximum, so you will always have to be near a power source or have a portable power bank with you at all times if you dont want your battery to die at an inopportune moment.Best 7 Inch Tablet Review Chromo Inc 7in Tablet SummaryWhen youre thinking about the best 7-inch tablet of 2020, its all too easy to scoff at and reject the Chromo Inc 7in tablet out of hand, but just because its cheap and a few years old, doesnt mean that it should be consigned to the scrap heap. The fact is that for standard everyday computing tasks, like social media, viewing and editing documents, and web-browsing, this is just fine. It will struggle if you hamper it with anything more complex, but thats the hazard everyone should be aware of when shopping at the more affordable end of the market.Chromo Inc 7in Tablet - Our VerdictA robust pocket tablet with a good quality screen and decent sound, which we would say is ideal for kids or for anyone dipping their toes in the tablet computing waters for the first time. If you have more advanced needs, look elsewhere.Chromo Inc 7in Tablet - ProsChromo Inc 7in Tablet - ConsDisplay quality is very good, and sound is pretty decent as well, and we liked the quality of images from the rear camera.Processing power is not up to more serious computing demands in 2020, and battery life is weak.9. Best 7 Inch Tablet Review Panda 7 Kids Tablet 7inch HD DisplayImage Source: AmazonThe NPOLE 7in Kids Tablet is excellent value for money. It has expandable storage of up to 32GB so your little ones will be able to enjoy smooth browsing through apps without any freezing. This tablet. for entry-level users such as children, it is highly responsive because of its 1.3 GHz Core processor that helps to ensure snappy app launches and appealingly speedy operation. However, processing power is a little limited for multi-tasking and more advanced tablet usage.Number of Amazon Customer Reviews: 63 Average Rating: 3.1 out of 5 stars Check Price DesignThe NPOLE Kids Tablet has been designed with children in mind, and thats evident in the funkily designed thick, tactile casing and the wonderfully colorful pre-installed Wawa software, which is not only a beautifully initiative interface for your children, but also gives access to a superb suite of parental controls enabling mum or dad to set usage limits, determine what content can be accessed, and manage educational goals. Also preinstalled are more than 60 educational apps and games, and the Wawa store has literally hundreds of games and apps that youll be able to download for your children as they learn more about the functionality of their tablets every day. And if you have more than one child in the house who might want to share the tablet, dont worryâ"the iWawa parental controls allows you to set up accounts for each child. The case itselfâ"made from soft silicone eco-friendly materialâ"is fantastic for protecting the tablet against the drops, bumps, knocks and other mishaps that can befall technology when children get their hands on it! There is also a kickstand within the case which means your kids will be able to comfortable enjoy viewing apps and video in hands-free mode.Display SpeakersThis tablet has a beautiful 1280800-pixel high resolution IPS touchscreen, which is clear, colorful and multi-touch responsive, with a pixel density of 216ppi, and complete with an advanced polarising filter for maximum quality. The internal speaker is hardly up to audiophile standard, but it is more than adequate to handle the sound requirements for the apps your children are most likely to be using on their tablet computing adventures.Other FeaturesFor a kids tablet, the NPOLE is pretty well appointed, with a microUSB port and 3.5mm headphone jack, the microSD slot for boosting storage, dual cameras and WiFi and Bluetooth.PerformancePerformance is pretty standard for a tablet at this end of the market, with 1GB of RAM and a 1.3GHz Quad Core Processor running the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system. Storage is just 8GB but this can be expand ed easily to 32GB by means of the microSD card slot that is included in the package. The processor is more than powerful enough to handle the things that small kids would be engaged in on a tablet. There should be no issues with screen responsiveness or lag if they keep things simple. However, if you get into multi-tasking, that may be a little too advanced for this processor to handle comfortably.Battery LifeMaximum battery life for the NPOLE Kids Tablet is the least impressive thing about itâ"only three to four hours on a full charge. We would suggest that this means the parents will have to remain in charge of keeping the tablet fully charged at all times. While this might rule it out for any serious challenge to the best 7 inch tablet crown, its important to remember that there are factors that almost inevitably make battery life somewhat low, not least among them the amount of preloaded apps, the user interface and the parental controls.Best 7 Inch Tablet Review NPOLE Kids Ta blet 7in SummaryFor kids, this is undoubtedly one of the best 7 inch tablet options available. This is a more than capable contender against some of the other small tablets featured on this page that have been designed with kids in mind. In this case, you should be aware that the preinstalled software, while excellent, takes up about half the available storage memory, so if youre interested in this device, think about getting your hands on a 32GB microSD card immediately. In terms of power and performance, its perhaps a little bit on the flyweight side for advanced multi-tasking, but if your children are just learning or getting into computers for the first time, this, with the wonderful UI and parental controls, is a perfect primer.NPOLE Kids Tablet 7in - Our VerdictWhile this is by no means a powerful tablet, it's a beautiful looking, well made tablet computer that will provide your children with a hassle-free introduction to computing and the Internet. Its parental controls are absolutely superb, enabling you to determine to a very fine degree what your child will be able to view online.NPOLE Kids Tablet 7in - ProsNPOLE Kids Tablet 7in - ConsThe display and user interface is quite wonderful, giving your child a wonderfully immersive portal into online computing, and the parental controls give you an amazing degree of oversight and content management.Processing power will not be able to withstand anything too demanding, and more than half the available memory storage has been taken up with the pre-installed UI and apps.10. Best 7 Inch Tablet Review Asus ZenPad 7 Image Source: AmazonThe Asus ZenPad 7 almost makes its way into our best 7 inch tablet review on the basis of its design, which is a beautiful combination of functionality and elegance. It has an aesthetically pleasing metallic silver edge and leather pattern that adds to the modern aspect of the tablet. This tablet is only 8.4mm thin but it is also sturdy and robust to hold. In-Plane Switching Dis play tech ensures colours are breathtakingly true to life, and the HD screen is a gem for viewing of video and photographs.Number of Amazon Customer Reviews: 296 Average Rating: 3.3 out of 5 stars Check Price DesignAt the time of its release in late 2015/early 2016, many critics hailed the Asus ZenPad 7 as the best 7in tablet you could buy. While the hyperbole is understandable, and indeed, even if true, its probably not even up to that high bar any more, the Asus ZenPad 7 certainly remains a standout player in the 7in tablet sector by virtue of the simplicity of its design, its slimline, robust yet lightweight construction, and its hassle-free operating system. The chrome finish to the edges of the case give the Asus ZenPad 7 a premium look and feel, and this is a very agreeable companion touch to the anti-fingerprint coating and Corning Gorilla Glass screen protector on the beautiful IPS display with its 1280800-pixel resolution.Overall, this design is neat and no frills, with the front camera and speaker on the top (in portrait mode), the volume switch on the right side and the power key just below that. There is also a standard 3.5mm audio jack on the top, and a microUSB port and the primary mic on the bottom edge.Complementing the glass and chrome of the front is a beautify embossed leather pattern finish and rounded edges for a very comfortable feel. Also located in the back are the rear facing camera as well as microSIM and microSD card slotsMeasuring just 7.4in x 4.3in x 0.3in, this tablet weights only 0.6lb and is easy to take with you anywhere you need to bring it.Display SpeakersASUS has used a two-layer display using its TruVivid tech to eliminate the air gap between the standard four-layer display, and to combine the glass and touch layers for greater transparency, clarity and color range. It is also much easier to read this tablet outdoors, even in sunlight, than many of the other tablets in this review post of the best 7 inch tablets.Other Feat uresThe 8mp rear cameras has a host of features, including auto, HDF, night modes and so on, but the images, despite the resolution, are actually a bit lacklustre in color reproduction. The front facing shooter, with a 2mp resolution, is absolutely fine for selfies and video calling on Skype or FaceTime, but it would be a good idea to make sure youre in bright light, or youll be a very shadowy presence indeed!PerformanceIf there is one thing that lets down the Asus ZenPad in 2020, its that its performance has been superseded by other tablets, particularly by devices just up a dimensions notch into the 8in range. However, on its own merits, the device is perfectly good if you dont expect anything too powerful. There is an Intel Atom x3 quad-core 64-bit processor, supported by 2GB of RAM and MaLI-450 MP4 GPU, and this achieves a pretty smooth performance. There is 16GB of internal storage, giving you around 11GB straight out of the box, and this can be expanded by up to 128GB via the m icroSD port.Running on Android 5.0 Lollipop, the user interface is a customised ASUS Zen job, and there are quite a number of pre-installed apps, all of which are useful. And the ZenMotion feature allows you to create a suite of gestures that serve as shortcuts to open particular apps when the display is off. There are also Touch gesture options, allowing you to take screenshots, to suddenly silence it, or to wake the device up when its asleep. These additional features ensure that it cannot be overlooked in any review of the best 7 inch tablet in this or any other year.Battery LifeThe 3,450 mAh battery in the Asus ZenPad 7 has maximum battery life of 7-8 hours if youre engaged in fairly standard use. Thats not bad, but its very disappointing to report that it takes upwards of four hours to achieve a full charge.Best 7 Inch Tablet Review Asus ZenPad 7 SummaryA fine looking tablet with a truly excellent display and decent quality audio, this Asus ZenPad 7 is a fantastic player for anyone wishing to progress beyond beginner level into more advanced areas of tablet computing. Despite its age, it remains one of the best 7 inch tablet options available, and if you can get your hands on one, you shouldnt overlook it.Asus ZenPad 7 - Our VerdictWhile this tablet is now a few years old, the Asus ZenPad 7 continues to get our thumbs up. It's a beautiful design with a fantastic display, can be easily carried to where you need it most, either in a bag or in a large pocket, and has the processing power to match most demands you make of it. Battery life is a little on the poor side, however.Asus ZenPad 7 - ProsAsus ZenPad 7 - ConsThe sleek, lightweight slimline design and the wonderfully responsive and colourful screen makes using the Asus ZenPad 7 an absolute delight.Battery power is a weak link here, and we would imagine that the tablet might struggle with more complex gaming graphics, or multi-tasking.Image Source: Amazon
